I felt something was off and so I put in a lot of bids on my bid buddy just to see if something was strange and watched all the other bid pack auctions. They were ending up a reasonable amount at the end.. The one I was involved in went to 14.14 !!!! I finally just gave up and 6 bids later the auction was finished. If it smells like a fish and tastes like a fish.....

I will never be back and have instructed all the friends I directed there to get out now. Has anyone else ever had that happen or am I being paranoid?

Bid packs have always been challenging to win. Heck, everything is pretty challenging to win there. (People have always jumped out of the woodworks. They've become good at reading an auction and knowing when to jump.) However, since the new win limit increase and recent advertising, it's harder than ever to win there. While, I do not think anything is wrong as of yet, I would be cautious about how much money I invested in the site and on which auctions I bid and when to cut down on potential loses.

Apparently it is a lot easier to win in the mornings. I couldn't win to save my life the last couple of evenings... but this morning I bid on a $25 Amazon card and won with just a few free bids and also won a $100 Target card with 11 bids (which were also free ones!) So I guess I will stick with the morning auctions. It seems like the rush starts to come in around 5 or 6, so try your luck before then and see what happens.

Kate--I wanted that Amazon gift card to feed my new Kindle addiction! I've been on an Amazon gift card hunt. I can't stop!

Hey pen check out speedyfinger dot com, they have a bunch of cards. Remember, it is a reserve type auction and it is over when a reserve is hit. It could be .01 or 1.02, you never know. Look at the closed auctions to see if they have been hitting high or low and make an educated guess from there. Good luck where ever you choose.

BYW Pen, picklebids is for sale in case you are interested. I never played there but from what I read it was a good (function wise) site.

Thanks for the information, NP. I actually played on Speedy Finger a week ago. Let's just say my bank account did not fare well! I did win a Itunes gift card and a few bid packs, so that was nice. Also, the owner is very responsive and nice and shipments are fast.

As far as Picklebid, yeah, I saw that it was up for sale. I used to play on that site. I'm still trying to figure out what to do.

    Good luck bidding.

    Default Is it just me?

Skore it looks a lot like Quibids lately. Lots of auctions (but not near what Quibids has) and lots of bidders just doing whatever with seemingly little strategy. Anything goes.

I can win on Quibids though...

Lately I've seen you bidding thousands of bids pointlessly against powerbidders. No wins of course, and you had to know there was no chance of winning. On another thread you are expressing wonder at bidders paying twice retail, when it is you who are jumping powerbidders to make them pay twice retail. How's that working out for you? You may call yourself mouse, but I smell a rat.
I didn't "make" anyone pay twice retail. That's their own stupidity. If you can't see that something funny is going on over there then you deserve to get screwed. When I say something positive about skoreit, you accuse me of working for them. When I say something negative, you smell a rat. Which is it?? Make up your mind.

I can still see user profiles or were you talking about the new users making them private?. Names are very weird. A lot of numbers after names. Something is not right.

I feel exactly the same way. No matter how much you truly advertise there are tons of people who are very skeptical about doing penny auctions and I highly doubt that many would just jump in and start bidding right away.

I saw you dump three thousand bids with no chance of winning against powerbidders. So who is stupid? Your mildly negative comment may be part of the "con". "Con" is short for Confidence. With your mild and easily refuted negative comment, you make yourself seem like a legitimate bidder. I'm not bidding there. You are the one who is still bidding there. Just last night I saw you bidding a fairly large quantity of bids, not winning yet driving up the price. Lots of new bidders after a large national ad campaign doesn't seem any where near as suspicious as you continually bidding up auctions.

    Default New BidPak changes

Just got this email from SkoreIt...

Effective 11:59 PM on Monday, September 6th, 2010, individual bid values will increase from 36¢-40¢ to 60¢-66¢ (depending on BidPak™ size). Although quantities will decrease, current BidPak™ price points will NOT change, with the exception of the $10 BidPak™ which will be lowered to $9.90.

Any existing bids in your account and any bids you purchase before the cut-off will remain as-is, and will effectively increase in value. The refund value of existing bids will not change. Over time, we have received a large number of customer comments suggesting that SkoreIt! auctions take too long to end. By increasing the value of each bid, we can help ensure that on average, auctions will end at lower prices and more quickly. The change in values will also provide more value for purchasing larger BidPaks™.

Since our BidPak™ price points are not changing, the quantity of bids included in each pack will decrease:
    • $9.90 BidPak™: 15 Bids
    • $19.50 BidPak™: 30 Bids
    • $38.00 BidPak™: 60 Bids
    • $75.00 BidPak™: 120 Bids
    • $148.00 BidPak™: 240 Bids
    • $292.00 BidPak™: 480 Bids
    • $576.00 BidPak™: 960 Bids

You don't bid there and yet you still sit there and count my bids? That's just weird. I don't like certain power bidders on there so yes, sometimes I will make it harder for them to win....It's my money and I can afford it. Is it smart? No. Is it satisfying to teach them a lesson? yes. I am not intimidated by powerbidders. I could easily become one but I think it's selfish. I don't know what your issue is with me and I don't really care. Now go away, you have bids to count.

Yeah, just looked at that. Double the price. Interesting, but it keeps them in line with other PA sites. First they gain 100's if not 1000's new members through ESPN and then quickly jack up the price. Wonder if that will work out for them.

It's morning. Things are still crazy. These new names seem to have crafted their skill to keep auctions going while spending minimum bids. There is some collective thinking going on here. It's the borg! You will be assimilated.

It is the oldest trick in the book. It is the Bait and Switch. They lured 1000's of new customers to them with free bids and bids that cost less them the majority of other penny auction sites. When they get them hooked, they up the price on them. It is just like when you see a TV advertised in the paper and when you go into the store they only had 3 of them to start the day and are sold out, but the salesmen says "Hey for just another $100 you can get this TV, and this TV is better because BLAH BLAH BLAH" You all remember stores don't you. It is where you used to get all your stuff before you got addicted to penny auctions.

We'll see football Sunday how many of these sports fans would rather play on penny auctions than watch a game. They won't have any money for their parlay tickets if they keep this up.

Don't forget about college football saturday! I'll be at Kinnick Stadium for the Hawkeye's home opener.
If sports fans are the target, stuff might only get to retail on weekends.

Didn't catch this until now. They were closed off a bit, then back showing. Someone in another thread said they had talked to them about the user profiles not showing. See link below.
I personally see they are back on , yet I find it extremely strange that supposed new users & signups comein their first day and KNOW how to set their profile to private and others put everything over $100.00 on their watch list. Very strange names, indeed..I agree. Strange behavior. I think we should invite some of them here on PAW to help us draw lottery numbers. They appear to have psychic powers that I can not seem to explain. How would they possibly know when to precisely activate a bid buddy the exact same time that another drops off.
WE REALLY NEED THEM ON THIS SITE!

I haven't done much more than glance at the site, but espn was giving out 3 codes worth 60 bids all together, so weird bidding patterns may just be tons of people with 60 bids who don't know what they're doing. It would make sense that there would be a lot of jumping and last second bids, as that is probably what seems to be the best strategy to those unfamiliar with this sort of thing. In all likelihood, they don't even know it's considered poor etiquette.

Do the numbers in bidders' names seem like they could be the numbers of sports figures? This is an espn audience....

Or maybe there's just something fishy. Time will tell! Ali

HaHaHa! You are terribly logic-deprived. As I posted when the site first opened, you won fully HALF of all the high-value items that went cheaply. After gobbling up all the deals you play the altruistic saint - 'I could easily become a powerbidder but I think it's selfish'. That's brilliant stuff there. In a ratshell, your role in the beginning was to prevent things going cheaply to real bidders. Now your role is to run up the price of auctions.

Caught again being a liar and a rat. You've won 2 items in less than 24 hours. The limit is 3. Yet you are dumping hundreds of bids on 3 more auctions at the same time. You win one and those hundreds of bids on each of the other 2 are wasted. But you're not a shill bidder and you abhor the selfishness of powerbidders. Riiiiiiight.

what i dont get is why people will bid 250 times to win a 120 bid pack. for example. user willnotstop13, has only won 120 bid packs. and on over half of them has bid more then what he would recieve to win them. sounds like a user from skoreit just makeing other people waste there money on bids to never be able to win.
